Ways into Successful Enterprise

WISE development worker

Trish Cairns

We have the very sad news that our friend and colleague Trish Cairns has passed away.  Trish was a valued member of the Ways into Successful Enterprise (WISE) team right from the very beginning, with the first pilot project which started in 2007, when she was based at Cleator Moor. From 2010 she was at Maryport until last year when she moved to the Workington office.  In that time Trish has assisted literally hundreds of people with their ideas and plans.  For those who went right through the whole process into self employment and starting up their own business, she was with them every step of the way, mentoring and supporting.

She will be missed greatly by team members and clients alike, for her warmth and friendliness, for her abilities and expertise, and her way of making everyone feel special.  There will be a big gap where her irreverent humour and her ability to laugh at herself and others, used to be.  Trish's funeral will take place on Monday 21st May at Our Lady & St Michael's Church in Workington.

Please contact any of the team members for further information or support, who will cover the Workington office as required, or contact Debbie Cosgrove on 01900 702772.

WISE Awards 2012

'Inspiring day' and 'opened my eyes to the possibilities' were just two of the comments from our start up businesses attending 'Ways into Successful Enterprise '(WISE) celebratory event on Friday.  There was a tremendous buzz as WISE Awards 2012 was held at Westlakes Campus with the support and sponsorship of the University of Central Lancaster (UCLan) who also provided the prize of £500 for the overall winner.

Speaker Pete Woolaghan of React Engineering Ltd, inspired his audience with descriptions of how he had come to engineering and through various pathways had built his business. Also lending their support were MP Tony Cunningham and dignatories from Allerdale & Copeland.
